Hardworking supporter of the foundation cycled almost 700 kilometers for donations

Every so often, people come to us with wonderful ideas. They use their talents and strength to support casayohana families. For this we are very grateful.

On vacation last year Claudia Brückner came up with the idea: Why just take a vacation, when that could be combined with a fundraiser. Claudia likes to travel by bike and has been supporting our foundation casayohana for several years.

Support for casayohana virtually from the beginning

.

Claudia, who is from the Stuttgart area, first heard about casayohana at a missions conference a few years ago. "At that time, the project was still fairly new," she says. Since then, she has supported casayohana annually - and for the past two years with a fundraising bike ride.

677 kilometers in ten days the 53-year-old has covered this year for casayohana, from early to mid-June. The mileage goal was important because that's what the donations were related to: Partly, she received fixed donation amounts for her bike ride, but partly donations were made per kilometer ridden or for reaching a certain daily goal.

That's what Claudia wanted to achieve in any case, even if the next place to stay wasn't that far away: "I can't put 200 euros in the sand there," she says, and so she did a 30-kilometer "lap of honor" in Bonn or drove zigzag through Cologne. "For my vacation, I would have cycled too, but probably not as much," says Claudia.

A bike ride blessed with helping hands

However, the kilometer goal was not the only hurdle Claudia had to overcome on the bike tour: on the third day it rained properly and a flat tire did not stay away either. "Luckily, the bike store wasn't too far away," she says. The store owner even donated part of the repair costs when he learned about the fundraising ride.

Her route took Claudia from Mainz along the Rhine to Emmerich on the Dutch border and ended in Düsseldorf. "Sponsors" Claudia sought mainly in their own community - but she continues to collect donations even now after the bike tour until the end of July. Over 7000 euros have been collected so far. Donations that our foundation casayohana can use just well. For the children, their own bus is urgently needed to ensure a safe way to school and the construction work on the site in Peru must also continue.
