On Wednesday, July 28, the new president of Peru will be installed in office. After the entire country waited more than a month for the results of the election, Pedro Castillo was declared the winner last week. The inauguration will take place in nearby Ayacucho. At the moment, it is difficult to assess how the situation will develop. It is quite possible that there will be unrest in the country. Pedro Castillo is Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, and his goal is to rely more on the national economy in order to be as independent as possible internationally. During the election campaign, he made it clear that he considers it unnecessary to stand up for women's rights. This clearly contradicts the goals of casayohana. Further, the planned nationalization makes it unclear whether it will continue to be possible for foreigners to run an NGO. It is currently difficult to assess to what extent promised goals will be implemented and what impact this will have on casayohana.
